When charging your electric vehicle, the amount of power (kW) received follows a charge curve which is set by the vehicle. The charge curve can vary tremendously among vehicle makes and models with most vehicles hitting their max speed (kW) between 10% and 40% state-of-charge.
As the vehicle fills up, you can expect the amount of power (kW) to decrease over time to protect the battery. This is where the importance of only charging to 80% at a fast charger comes from. Above 80% state-of-charge, most vehicles will accept such a low amount of power that the time value of energy received is not worth the wait.
